The 1965–69 Mothers · every gig 1965–1969
- Raised
- The early Mothers line-up stayed the same for several years: Sandy Hurvitz, who only played the 1967 Garrick Theatre residency, was listed on gigs right across 1965–69. And Roy Estrada, long established as the player with the most gigs beside Zappa, showed fewer nights than Ray White.
- Decision
- Both had one cause. The 1965–69 Mothers were stored as a single undated line-up, so every gig listed all 22 members and none of them received night credits. That record is now split into dated line-ups taken from the Tour Atlas rosters. Sandy Hurvitz is credited only for the Garrick run, June to September 1967, and Roy Estrada now tops the night count with 558 nights plus 1965, which stays as one undated record because the Atlas gives no roster for it. Ed Mann's position is unchanged: the Atlas's own table has him 10th, behind Ray White, Tommy Mars and Ike Willis, and the archive's counts agree. Where the Atlas gives no exact date the boundary is a judgement: Hurvitz and Ian Underwood from 1 June 1967, Motorhead Sherwood from the September 1967 European tour, Ray Collins absent July to September 1967 and after 10 August 1968.
